Kurta for men

I just made a Kurta for dad and i was happy with the result, men´s garments are tricky and is difficult sometimes to get a perfect fitting, this time i got it and i want to share with you some tips and information about the process.

In this post you will find also a video tutorial on how to make this kurta. Feel free to ask any doubt you have in comments and i will help you.

Here my handsome father wearing his new kurta <3

Here you have the video tutorial if you want to make it:

For a perfect fitting You are going to need Basic bodice patterns for men,  if you took my course of pattern making for men and boys you have them already and you can make also a boys kurta using the patterns we learnt in the course. These patterns will give a perfect fitting.
If you didnt take the course and you want to register, here you have the link with all the information:

Pattern making for boys and men

Or also you can use the patterns of kurta i made in ---> This video, making some small adjustments.

This particular kurta has chinese collar with double piping, cuffs and placket also with double piping, here you have the instructions to trace all the patterns for these parts of the garment, then cut them and stitch as is shown in the video:

Collar

Plackets

Cuffs

Cuffs placket and lining piece

Preparation of the sleeve. For a formal shirt long sleeve with cuffs, you need to add 4 cm to the normal base line of a regular sleeve (which is usually wrist contour + 1"), we need this particular sleeve to be wider by 4 cm in the base because we will make pleats before to attach the cuffs.
